Holiday Blues..!

OK, so there is a double entendre for that title!  I am currently suffering post holiday blues after spending a week in the divine Port Douglas, only to return to freezing cold Melbourne!  However, while strolling around Macrossan street, I noticed that blue was everywhere for this spring and summer.  AND the brighter the blue, the better.  Shoes, clothes, accessories... blue blue blue!

Here are a couple of things that I have picked out that I love...

Top left are Josie 'Charlie' Wedges for $149 with their signature leopard print sole.  How delicious are these?  To purchase, contact Josie Clothing on 02 8068 1620.  Top right is the Dotti 'Block' heel in colour 'blues' for $69.95.  I think the two tone blue make them look super fun!  What do you think?

Left - Dotti 'Indian Brave Saddle Bag' in blue for $29.95 and right (a personal favourite to dress up shorts or jeans) - Bardot 'Boyfriend' jacket in cobalt which is on sale now for $64.98.

So maybe, just maybe, if I add some blue to my wardrobe this week, my post trip sadness will subside?  I think it's worth a try!  Any excuse really!!

Just because...

These two items are appearing on my blog... just because!  I love both items, they are currently on sale and I'd be rushing out to buy if I had the spare cash.

But alas I don't... but maybe you do?

The Supertrash Dulsa dress is available at the Jade & Belle online store for $70 and is a soft brown knitted dress featuring a boat neck and mini sleeves.  The Josie Zippora Wedge is 100% suede and feature their signature leopard print sole.  These divine booties are available through the Josie Clothing online store for $150.  Leopard print is still a must for this spring so get in quick to get your pair.

These two wardrobe must-haves will look absolutely delicious together!

To the Max!

My favourite dresses in my wardrobe for this spring and summer 2011/2012 are my maxi's!  Being so adaptable, they can be worn while doing the daily errands on a hot summers day or dressed up, ready to wear for a weekend BBQ get-together.  I also happen to think that a maxi is one of the most flattering dresses for all body shapes.

Take the Witchery blood orange beach dress at left ($69.95 on sale now) and team it with your favourite flip flops and wide brim floppy sun hat (like this yellow Witchery hat for $49.95), and you are ready for a family picnic in the park.  The beautiful Sussan tribal strapless maxi dress in neutral above right ($129.95) is the perfect outfit for a summer nights dinner out with friends - just team with a heel like the Novo Oak heel in beige ($89.95) and chunky bangles up your arm.

For versatility, add the Just Jeans black frill top maxi ($69.95) to your wardrobe and you will be ready to go anywhere!  Wear it to run around, doing your daily errands.  Or accessorise with a bold coloured turban, wedges and kimono - like the Cotton On Evie kimono mentioned in an earlier post - to be ready to go out on the town.

Whichever maxi you choose to add to your collection, it will no doubt be one piece you will wear over and over again this spring and summer.

Shoes Shoes Shoes!

I have an immense love of shoes... some would say it's an addiction.  I say, it's just a great way to make the same simple outfit appear different, each and every time.  For me, shoes make the world go around!  For example, take a Face Off long white racer back tank top ($8) and a pair of Kmart longline ladies shorts ($15).  Mix this outfit up with a wedge, a flat, a heel - and each and every time, the look will be different.

Add the divine Novo Braxton wedge in burnt orange for $69.95, or Novo's Yacht wedge in yellow for $69.95 and the look is hot hot HOT!

For something a little more casual, add the Just Jeans ankle tie espadrille in coral for $9.95 or the Just Jeans crochet blue ballet shoe in blue for $19.95.
Accessorise with chunky bangles in the same or contrasting colours.  Or if you're feeling particularly adventurous, add a brightly coloured floppy sun hat, cute & textured fedora or a funky looking turban.  Whatever takes your fancy!

A little something for your walls...

Art for the walls of your home can often be quite expensive.  But it doesn't have to be.

Printspace have over 70 different print art pictures available online for purchase.  All unique, all in differing sizes.  Ranging from prints for a child's room to those that have beautiful sentiments which you would hang in your entrance or kitchen.  You can even have a birth print custom made to celebrate the birth of your new child or as a gift for a friend's new baby.

Frame yourself to suit your own home - picking up an inexpensive frame from either Ikea or Kmart - in white, birch or walnut.  It will be a real focal point of your home and something unique that will be a talking point.  Gorgeous!

Block Colours!

This summer is all about block colours.  Like this Cotton On Issie beaded top in purple (left) for $24.95 (online exclusive) and this Target Australia Hot Options jacket in orange (right) for $79.  The more colour you can inject into your wardrobe, the better.  This season's hot colours are anything bright.  Bright purple, burnt orange, bold blues, luminious yellow, emerald green, hot pinks!  Wear one piece to brighten up your overall outfit or be adventurous and wear a couple together.  This Cotton On Elin T-shirt dress in hot pink (and also available in green) at left is $19.95 (online exclusive) and can be worn on its own.  Or this Cotton On Ritchie skinny leg jean in blue (right) for $39.95 could be worn with the Dotti Ellie peeptoe flat in yellow (bottom) for $49.95.  The possibilities are endless, the combinations whatever you desire.  This season is all about having fun with your clothes and your block colours!

Splash of Colour!

Ohhhhhh how I am loving the colours that are being injected into this season's clothes.  It is simply delicious!  But not all of us can go out and buy a whole new wardrobe.  Instead, it's a lot easier to add accent colours to a classic - something that is already in our wardrobes.  I particularly love the coral colour for Spring 2011.

Team a simple black dress - like this One Teaspoon 'Defender Undercover' dress, available at Velvet Fox for $80.00 - with the Forever New Blake Wedge Sandal in Tan/Coral ($79.99), Sportsgirl ring front Turban ($16.95) and Sportsgirl costume ring ($16.95).

You could also wear the wedges, turban and ring with a rolled up boyfriend jean (like the Target Australia jean I mentioned in a previous post) and a crisp white racer back singlet.  Gor-geous!

If you want to be a little more colourful for summer - had some turquoise accessories to the mix.  Turquoise & coral together - spectacular!

Damn it!  Now I want those Forever New shoes for myself!!

Style Tip!

When buying wedges or sandals to wear with jeans, choose shoes that have a closed in heel.  This way, your jeans won't get constantly stuck in the back of your shoe, like when wearing slingbacks!!

The gladiator sandal pictured at right, has a closed back heel with zip - for ease of getting the shoe on.  Kmart Australia currently have an almost identical sandal in stock now for $19.  Available in both tan and black and features a very slight wedge heel.

Let's get Foxy!

My favourite item of clothing at the moment would have to be my Wildfox Couture tees.  They are a bit pricey but very much worth it.  And if you are lucky, like I have been, you can score these at a reasonable price.  Like this tee - Wildfox Quills oversize V neck tee - is on sale on eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wildfox-Quills-oversize-v-neck-xs-BRAND-NEW-wt-/150619636723?pt=AU_Womens_Clothing_2&hash=item2311a143f3).  This tee in XS, which is in my collection, would easily fit someone who is size 8-12, depending on how you want the tee to fit.

And if you are REALLY lucky, you'll pick up these soft and luscious t-shirts via brandsExclusive - http://www.brandsexclusive.com.au/i/annie_spilar/ - when they have a collection on sale (which as been twice in the past few months).  brandsExclusive is an exclusive Australian online shopping destination for fashion clothing, footwear and accessories.

Also check out Wildfox Couture on fabnob.com.au.

Wear with Target Australia straight cut jean in dark ink.  These jeans come in regular or short length which are great for the vertically challenged like myself and retail for $20!

Finish off with a shoe like the Kmart tan wedge heel for $29.

Hot hot HOT!

THAT Target Dress!

Great news Fashionistas!  THAT Target Australia dress is also available in beige and in store NOW!  Still only $59, this dress is just simply divine - although my picture at left does not do it justice.  (Apologies for the lily white arms - yes, that's me wearing the dress)! Falling beautifully from the waist to just below the knee, the dress is made of broderie anglaise and is perfect to wear to this season's Spring Racing Carnival.
I wouldn't overly accessorize - a beautiful yet chucky bracelet in a classic style would be perfect.  Something that features pearls and/or crystals would suit, with matching (or similar) earrings.

A simple headband or hairclip would look fab-u-lous... darlings!  These two pictured are from Mimco.  The first is their Hybrid Headband and retails for $149.  A little on the ex'y side but very beautiful.  Although, I am sure you could find something similar in Target for considerably less.  For a more understated look, the second hair piece is the Mimco Electro Lace Bow Barrette hairclip which is currently ON SALE for $19.96 (reduced from $69.95) - http://www.mimco.com.au/Product/Sale_40/Hair_69/ELECTRO-LACE-BOW-BARRETTE_6509/index.aspx.  And until Monday 17 October AEST, Mimco have an additional 20% off already reduced items!  So you may actually find all the accessories you need there!

The Little Black Dress!

What's not to love about a Little Black Dress (LBD).  Every girl should have one in their wardrobe as it's a timeless piece that can be dressed up for those special and formal occasions.

The two beautiful numbers above come from EziBuy, an online store stocking clothes, shoes, lingerie, homeware and gifts - http://www.ezibuy.com.au/.

The Grace Hill lace dress retails for $99.95 and is made from cotton/nylon stretchy fabric and features 3/4 length sleeves, blush coloured underlining and black lace overtop.  The Emerge drapey wrap dress features a centre back invisable zip and gathers at the sides, retails for $89.99 and is made from polyester/elastane.

Team with the Kmart Australia black faux patent leather platform heel which retails for $25, as pictured below, to complete the look.  Gorgeous!

Beautiful & Flirty!

I only have two words for this Target Australia dress - simply stunning!  This beautiful and classic white lace dress retails for $59 (can you believe it?) and can be worn anywhere... a weekend champagne lunch with the gals, to the races, a christening or just out shopping for the day!  The possibilities are endless.

However, this divine dress is only available in selected Target stores, so get in quick, as I believe they are running out the door.

Team with the Betts Lexy heel in Camel which is currently on sale (online only) for $69.99 - http://www.betts.com.au/catalogue/Pump_shoes_heels/LEXY.aspx - and a simple bracelet like this stretchy camel & silver number I picked up from Sussan, and you are ready for your weekend festivities.

Or for a splash of colour, team with the Novo Shoes Nadia heel, which retails at $79.95 and add a coloured clutch bag like this Novo Shoes bag which is available in pink, yellow and blue for $39.95.

Way too cute!

Cheap chic shoes!

While out and about today, I came across these shoes, both stocked at Kmart Australia.

The floral wedges, available in black and cream, have a woven wedge and will look classic with  a simple rolled up jean and crisp white tee.  Price $29.  The candy stripe ballet flat in coral with woven trim are just too cute!  Price $12.

Spring Florals!

Florals are so HOT right now and Cotton On clothing have a great selection at very affordable prices.

I personally love this Evie Kimono, which at $34.95 can dress up any outfit.  Whether you wear it with your favourite boyfriend jean or skinny cargo pant (both mentioned in previous posts), shorts or with your favourite LBD (little black dress) this will be a favourite in your wardrobe this Spring and Summer.

I already have this in my wardrobe... will you?

Also in Cotton on at the moment are these gorgeous floral Orca Maxi Dresses, priced at $49.95.  They are comfortable and effortless to dress up or down.

http://shop.cottonon.com/shop/product/orca-maxi-dress-4/

Team this one (with the big bright red flowers) with the Witchery Tori Cut Out High Heel in cherry (mentioned in a previous post).  And finish the look by accessorizing with wooden bangles.

Perfect-o!

The patterned and floral Orca Maxi, pictured left, would look fabulous with the Kmart Nude Wedges (mentioned in a previous post).  Again, accessorizing with funky chunky bangles and add the Aviators from DB Sunglasses (also mentioned in a previous post) to complete the look.

Now you're ready for that weekend BBQ with family and friends or Sunday afternoon drinks with the gals!

http://shop.cottonon.com/shop/product/orca-maxi-dress-5/

If there is still a little bit of Spring chill in the air, simply throw a denim jacket over the top of them.
